What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture originated over 5,000 years ago in Asia and is the oldest practiced medical system in the world. It is known to activate the flow of natural vital energy, or Qi, which is inherent within all living things. When Qi is balanced and sufficient in both quality and quantity and moving smoothly through you , health and wellness may be experienced. When Qi is blocked or disordered in some manner, you may experience illness, pain, or emotional distress. This may show up in many ways and on different levels: on the physical level as stomach or back pain; on the mental level as compulsions, forgetfulness, indecisiveness, or the ability to concentrate; or on the emotion/spirit level as resentments or chronic anger, the inablility to experience joy, or living with constant fear or sadness.

The World Health Organization recognizes Acupuncture and traditional Oriental medicine's ability to treat over 43 common disorders including: headaches, allergies, chronic fatigue, depression, back pain, digestive disorders, joint pain, gynecological disorders, infertility, sleeping problems, asthma, addictions, hypertension, and stress. Acupuncture is helpful for many severe chronic illnesses, complaints that have no easily determined cause, and for nagging conditions as well.
